How much more should one community have to endure before enough is finally enough?

For years, Garfield County has been at the center of controversy over the ICE detention facility in Glenwood Springs. Residents, faith leaders, and community organizations have raised concerns about how the facility has operated, including allegations that it exceeded the limits of its Special Use Permit and lacked the accountability our community expects.

After months of testimony, public meetings, and evidence presented by both supporters and opponents, the Glenwood Springs Planning and Zoning Commission voted to revoke the facility's Special Use Permit. Now, the final decision rests with the Glenwood Springs City Council.

This isn't just about one facility. It's about whether local laws matter, whether permits mean what they say, and whether our community has a voice in decisions that affect all of us.

On Wednesday, August 6, we have an opportunity to stand together and show City Council that Garfield County believes in accountability, transparency, and the rule of law.
