Call for County Commissioner Candidates!
Two Garfield County Commissioner seats are up for election in November 2020. The GarCo Dems are prepared and eager to help Democratic candidates run successful campaigns and get elected to these seats.
Our County Commissioners hold very powerful positions, managing a budget of over $100 million and influencing everything from local social services, to keeping toxins out of the air we breathe, to the availability of high-quality jobs, to the climate crisis.
Garfield County Commissioners are well-compensated at over $100,000 a year, plus benefits.
Commissioner seats for District 2 and 3 are up for election this year. In District 2, Commissioner John Martin is in his 24th year on the board and is planning to run for a seventh term; Commissioner Mike Samson has held the District 3 seat for over a decade and is running for a fourth term. (Garfield County does not have term limits.) We’re past due for new leaders who have fresh ideas and can lead our county to a brighter future!
The deadline for being nominated as a candidate is March 21. Interested in throwing your hat in the ring? Please contact Garco Dems chair John Krousouloudis asap!
To run for one of these seats you must live in the correct district. District 2 includes only the Precincts 7, 11 and 12 portions of Glenwood Springs. Click on the maps below for more detail. For more about the job of a county commissioner, click here.
